Tartan Aid began with a simple belief. When people are in need, we should do what we can to help.
In November 2023, a group of us came together to raise funds and provide whatever help we could for people affected by the crisis in Gaza. What began as a small effort grew through the generosity and determination of people who wanted to make a real difference.
Around a year later, we began operating under the auspices of another charity.
During this time, we developed a system that enabled funds to be transferred directly to trusted volunteers working on the ground in Gaza on a weekly basis. In March 2026, Tartan Aid officially secured charitable status, registered as Tartan Aid SC055118.
Today, our work continues.
We send several thousand pounds every week directly to our trusted volunteers working across three different camps in Gaza. They use these funds to provide essential food and humanitarian assistance to people who need it most.
We receive dated photographs, food distribution records and videos from our volunteers, allowing us to see and document the work being carried out and the people being supported. We believe in transparency, accountability and making sure that the generosity of our supporters reaches those who need it.
Our Commitment
This work is not temporary.
As long as there are people in need and as long as we are able to help, Tartan Aid will continue its work in Gaza indefinitely.
But our commitment does not stop there.
We also support people and community initiatives in Scotland, raising funds separately so that donations intended for local causes are used to help people here at home.
We see it as a blessing to be able to help others whether that is a family in Scotland struggling to get by or a community in Gaza facing unimaginable circumstances.
From Scotland to Gaza, every donation has the power to make a difference.

Our Founders
Rebecca - Chair
Rebecca is a lifelong activist, both at home and abroad, and a retired nurse committed to helping others.
She advocates against injustice and has supported the South African anti-apartheid movement, refugees, and Glasgow's disenfranchised.
Her personal interests include football, David Bowie, theatre, travel, family, and her beloved dogs.
Jeanette - Treasurer
Jeanette is a retired nurse from Glasgow who has always had a heart for helping others.
She continues to give her time and experience to support people in need, both at home and around the world.
Her passion for kindness, compassion, and making a difference inspires everything she does.
Nazia - Secretary
Nazia has always been deeply passionate about justice and equality for all, and genuinely cares about making a difference where she can.
Our mission is something she truly believes in. For her, the charity is more than a commitment, it's a personal cause she is proud to dedicate her time and energy to alongside working part-time with for another charity.
